What You Can Do

Sustainability is a movement globally. But did you know that it is also a movement here at Boston University? Sustainability is an understanding that we can make a positive impact in the world. There are so many ways for you to live with meaning when you arrive at BU as a #NewTerrier and sustainability affords you many opportunities.

Everything you do has an impact—on our University footprint and on people you’ll encounter in your journey here. Keeping that in mind will help guide your actions AND your experiences.

Seemingly ordinary actions can have huge impact when combined with your peers.

Get Involved

Did you know that BU has a relationship with Goodwill Industries so that students and staff may donate items at the end of each semester? If you can’t find someone in need of your old stuff, put it to good use rather than in the trash. Each year, your donations add up to literally TONS of good stuff, which Goodwill then sells to support their job training programs.

BU students are making this place better every day. They are working through their Residence Hall Association (RHA) and Student Government to create meaningful programming like the Dorm Energy Challenge, engaging residents in an understanding of their own power usage.

Be a student sustainability leader. Explore one of the many clubs, or the community at Earth House in South Campus. Create your own project and ask us for guidance!

Students come to BU because they want to make a difference in the world. It starts with each one of you. What is your passion? How can you contribute to an amazing BU experience for yourself and future students? What will be your sustainability legacy?
