Makechnie Study Center


Sargent College Makechnie Study Center, renovated in 2009, was awarded LEED-CI *(Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, Commercial Interiors) Silver in April. The 3,000 square foot Makechnie Study Center provides a broad range of media services for students, faculty, and staff. It includes a digital video-editing suite, 11 computer workstations, and is equipped with hi-definition LCD panels for viewing course related media, and developing PowerPoint presentations for classes.

  • Optimized energy performance (lighting power)
  • Building materials incorporating 13.87% recycled content
  • Energy-efficient glass, stainless steel panel, precast façade, highly efficient and flexible 20,000  square-foot floor plates, energy efficient building systems

*The LEED Green Building Certification System is an internationally recognized program that measures how well a building or community performs across various metrics such as energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, and improved indoor environmental quality. It was launched in 1998 by the US Green Building Council.
