Greenovate Boston is the movement to reduce the city’s greenhouse gas emissions 25% by 2020. Along with the sustainable steps already taken by local residents and organizations, Greenovate will color the future of Boston green.

Working with representatives from all sectors and neighborhoods of Boston, the City of Boston has developed strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase efficiencies, and prepare for extreme weather and higher sea levels.
Boston’s top business, civic, and institutional leaders have joined forces in the Green Ribbon Commission to fight climate change and support the City’s plan. By laying out the necessary steps to reduce the risks of and prepare for climate-related change, the Climate Action Plan aims to bring significant economic benefits to Boston and ensure that the city’s economic and social infrastructure remains strong.
The Mayor’s Green Awards recognize the impressive accomplishments made by the local people and businesses of Boston. Winners in the residential and organizational categories have shown an extraordinary commitment to sustainable practices within their communities.
Boston has often been recognized for its progressive practices in environmental sustainability. In 2011, the Economist Intelligence Unit ranked Boston the fifth-greenest city in the United States. We’re confident that the Greenovate movement can launch our city to #1.
