Sawyer Seminar Series on Energy Transitions and Society
Following the success of the John Sawyer Seminars in Fall 2010, the Frederick S. Pardee Center will continue to convene the seminars for Spring 2011.
Following the success of the John Sawyer Seminars in Fall 2010, the Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future and the BU Department of Geography and Environment will continue to convene the John Sawyer Seminars at Boston University on Energy Transitions and Society for Spring 2011.
The first seminar in this Spring 2011 series will be held on Friday, January 28, 2011 and will feature:

Paul Sabin, Yale University
Michael C. Caramanis, Boston University
The focus of the panel for the fifth Sawyer Seminar of the series will be “Energy Transition Policy.”
The seminar will meet on the 4th Floor of the BU Questrom School of Business (Hariri Building, 595 Commonwealth Avenue) at Rm 424 from 10.00AM to 12.30PM.

The seminar series, supported by a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, will meet once each month during the Fall 2010 and Spring 2011 semesters. The interdisciplinary seminars will bring together leadings scholars to Boston University to discuss various aspects of how energy transitions are themselves socially constituted and how they have, and are likely to, impact society. To facilitate an interdisciplinary discourse, each seminar will feature three speakers, in most cases from different academic disciplines. The Seminar Series is co-sponsored by the Boston University Clean Energy and Environmental Sustainability Initiative (CEESI).
