Sustainable Buildings and Facilities Operations Working Group

Purpose:

The primary purpose of Sustainable Building and Facility Operations Working Group is to identify goals, best practices, and opportunities to reduce the environmental impact of new and existing buildings, grounds and operations through increased resource efficiency, improved indoor environmental quality, material selection, and operational the procedures employed by the University.

Specific Responsibilities

Develop strategies, policies, and procedures to reduce the environmental footprint of building and grounds by:

  • Improving overall efficiency in buildings, grounds, and operations
  • Reducing the use of limited and non-renewable resources
  • Improving the indoor environmental quality for new and existing buildings
  • Decreasing the University’s carbon footprint
  • Developing and recommending criteria for building sustainability audit action plans
  • Recommending pilot programs and pilot projects to test and verify the proposed strategies, policies and procedures
  • Recommending projects to the Sustainability Steering Committee.
