Boston University Summer Study Internship Program

Admissions

The Boston University Summer Study Internship Program is open to visiting non-Boston University students who have completed at least one year of college by the start of the program. Students must be in good academic and judicial standing with a minimum GPA of 2.7.

The Summer Study Internship Program is open only to U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

Internship AdmissionsStudents are accepted into one of eight academic tracks and must enroll in the full 10-credit program: two Summer 1 courses, an internship course, and a Summer 2 internship. Students whose internship schedule allows may enroll in a fourth course (for a total of 14 credits) for an additional fee.

Application Deadline: Applications to the Summer Study Internship Program are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Students are encouraged to submit their applications as early as possible. The deadline for all applications is May 12, 2008. Applications received after the deadline will be considered on a space-available basis.

Please contact your academic advisor, dean, chairperson, or registrar at your home institution to gain academic approval for your participation in this program.

Application Procedure

You may apply for the Summer Study Internship Program in two ways: fill out the application online or download the form and mail it to the Summer Study Internship offices. Please remember to notify Summer Term of any change in your address, telephone number, or e-mail address that arises after you submit your application.

A $40 non-refundable application fee must be included with your application. Your application cannot be processed without it. You may pay by credit card or by check. If paying by check, make your check or money order payable to Boston University and include your name, Social Security number, and program name (Summer Study Internship Program).

The following materials must be mailed:

  • Personal Essay (no more than two-pages, double-spaced) discussing the following items:
    – Describe your academic, career, and/or personal goals.
    – Using specific examples, describe how you plan to accomplish these goals in this program, and explain how your participation in the Boston University Summer Study Internship Program would contribute to these objectives.

  • Official College Transcript: Arrange to have one official transcript from each college or university you attended sent to Boston University Summer Term, Summer Study Internship Program, 755 Commonwealth Avenue, Room 105, Boston, MA 02215
  • Resume
  • Application fee: A $40 non-refundable application fee or completed credit card authorization form.
