Withdrawal Deadlines

Absence from class or non-payment do not constitute an official withdrawal or dropped course. If your plans change and you are unable to attend a course for which you have registered, you must officially drop/withdraw from the class. Failure to do so within the schedule of dates for that course will result in your being held responsible for all tuition and fees associated with the course(s) in question.

Students can drop/withdraw from summer classes on the Student Link until the add/drop deadline that applies to their courses. You can also complete a Summer Add/Drop Form and mail, email, fax, or deliver the form to:

Please Note: If you are a visiting international student attending Summer Term on a Boston University F-1 student visa, you must remain enrolled in all of your courses throughout the summer session in order to maintain your F-1 visa status.

Credit Balance

A credit balance on your account resulting from withdrawal, overpayment, or adjustment may be refunded by request. Students with access to the Student Link can make electronic refund requests by clicking "Request a Refund" from Student Account inquiry. Students who do not have access to the Student Link may make a request in writing by email to studenta@bu.edu or by sending a letter to:
