The Internship Course
The Summer Study Internship Program's 2-credit Internship course meets throughout Summer Sessions 1 and 2. The course explores links between your academic track and your on-site professional experience, and provides support and guidance as you prepare for your placement. The Internship Course instructor also serves as your faculty advisor, helping you make the most of your internship experience.
Components of the Internship Course include professional development topics, cover letter and résumé writing, interviewing skills, workplace culture, self-assessment, and networking skills. Homework is assigned throughout the course. For your final project, you will prepare a paper/presentation based on your internship experience. Attendance is required both in the course and on site at your internship, and is part of your final grade.
Your grade in the Internship Course at the end of Summer 1 must be a C or higher in order for you to continue on to your internship placement. There is no refund given to students who are withdrawn from the program.
