ComputingIf you have a laptop that you would like to bring with you this summer, please make sure that your laptop has an Ethernet connection as this is the means of network connection in Warren Towers (students must supply their own Ethernet cords). If you do not own a computer, you do have other options on campus for computer use. Office of Information Technology: Students at Boston University have access to a wide variety of computing and network resources for communication, coursework, instruction, and research. The Office of Information Technology (www.bu.edu/it, it@bu.edu, 617-353-2780) provides general access facilities for the entire University community. Their main office, located at 111 Cummington Street, is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Once the program begins, we will help you set up a computer account. ResNet Computer Lab: A smaller computer lab on the fourth floor of Warren Towers will be open from 5-11 p.m., seven days a week. Library ServicesThere are 17 libraries on campus, holding 2.2 million volumes and more that 30,698 periodicals. Mugar Memorial Library is the primary library for study, teaching, and research in the humanities and social sciences for Boston University.

FitRec CenterBoston University's new Fitness and Recreation Center provides approximately 270,000 square feet of space incorporating an 18,000 square foot weight & cardio room, two separate swimming pools, two multi-use gymnasiums with seven courts, an elevated 1/8 mile jogging track overlooking several activity areas, racquetball and squash courts, and a 35' climbing wall. Students in High School Honors and Summer Challenge must be at least 15 years of age or older to be eligible to purchase a membership for use of the FitRec center for the time they are on campus (on a monthly basis). They will need to have their parent(s) or guardian(s) fill out an Informed Consent and Waiver of Liability form prior and send it to our office prior to arrival. Student UnionThe George Sherman Union, located at 775 Commonwealth Avenue, has facilities that include a food court with varied food options, video games area, conference auditorium and a U.S. Post Office. Campus Book StoreBooks, notebooks, and other supplies are available at the Barnes and Noble bookstore, located at 660 Beacon Street in Kenmore Square.

Writing CenterThe CAS Writing Center, at 730 Commonwealth Avenue, offers one-on-one and group tutorials free of charge to any and every student enrolled in Writing Program courses. The Writing Center is also the location of the administrative offices of the Writing Program. Tutorials are by appointment only. Students may sign up for tutorial sessions either by phone (617-358-1500) or in person at the Writing Center. Student Health ServicesBoston University Student Health Services, located at 881 Commonwealth Avenue, is open to all students. Most student medical problems can be addressed through Health Services. In the case of an emergency or the need for medical care on the weekends or weekdays after 4:30 p.m., students will be sent to a local hospital's emergency room, accompanied by a program assistant. Students must be accompanied by a program assistant when going to Boston University Student Health Services. Students who are not feeling well and need to be taken to Student Health Services should inform either a program assistant or the program staff. Disability ServicesConsultations with Disability Services staff are available to individuals or groups requesting assistance or having questions or concerns about programmatic, architectural, or communication accessibility.
