Summer College Courses at Boston University (BU) Summer Term 2008
High School Honors Programs at Boston University Summer Term

What to Bring

To help you prepare for your stay at Boston University this summer, we have made a list of the furnishings contained in each room of the residence hall. We have also suggested certain items that you should bring with you that you need and will make your stay more comfortable.

To obtain a Boston University Terrier Card, you need either:

  • A government issued picture ID (passport or license)
  • High school ID card and birth certificate
  • You can provide photocopies if you do not want to bring the originals

In the residence, you will find:

  • A dresser for each occupant
  • A desk and chair for each occupant
  • A bed frame with a mattress for each occupant

What you should bring for your room:

  • Linens - you will need to bring your own sheets, blankets, towels, and pillow. The beds in the residence are 80 inches long (extra-long twin).
  • Personal items - we recommend that you bring flip-flops for the shower and some sort of shower caddy to organize and carry all of your toiletries. Sun block will be very important to have for our beach trip. Personal hygiene items and laundry detergent can be purchased at stores near campus.
  • Hangers
  • Fans - the residence is not air-conditioned and can become very warm during the summer.
  • Other appliances - you may also want to bring a desk lamp and an alarm clock. NOTE: Hot pots, microwaves, and air conditioners are not allowed in the residence. Items such as blow dryers and curling irons are fine to bring.
  • Phone and Internet - because there is no in-room telephone service, we recommend that you bring a cell phone. Computer labs are available on campus and in the common area of the residence for students to use. If you choose to bring your own computer, we recommend that you bring an Ethernet cord.
