Summer Term students are welcome to live on campus at Boston University. Life on campus provides a unique opportunity for camaraderie and community as students dine, study and enjoy their time together.
Students interested in summer on-campus housing should make arrangements directly through BU Housing. Summer 2013 housing details, including application deadlines and rates, are available on the BU Housing website. You may also email housing@bu.edu with any questions.
Types of Housing
Double rooms and a limited number of single rooms are available in dormitory-style and apartment-style residences. Rooms and apartments vary in size and design; residence rates are assessed on a per person basis and vary according to the type of accommodation. Summer residences are not air conditioned. Students are prohibited from bringing air conditioners of any kind into the residences.
Rooms in dormitory-style and apartment-style residences contain a dresser, a desk, a mattress, a bed frame, and a chair for each student. Students must provide their own linens, including extra-long twin bed sheets (beds are 80 inches long). Apartment-style residences are also furnished and equipped with kitchen and bathroom facilities; apartment residents must provide their own kitchen utensils, cleaning items, and bathroom supplies.
Applying for On-Campus Housing
To reserve an on-campus residence assignment, you must send the following to BU Housing:
- Residence License Agreement
- Assignment Interest Form
- $200 nonrefundable housing guarantee payment
All residence assignments are made on a space-available basis and according to the dates that completed Residence License Agreements, Assignment Interest Forms, and housing guarantee payments are received by BU Housing. Complete summer housing information and all the forms to apply for on-campus housing are available at bu.edu/housing/summer.
Dining Plans
The Warren Towers dining room and other retail dining locations are open throughout the summer for your dining pleasure. Students assigned to dormitory-style residences must choose one of the three summer dining plans available. Students assigned to apartment-style residences or living off campus have the option to purchase a dining plan or Convenience Points Plan. If you select this option, you must complete an Optional Dining Plan Agreement for one of the three dining plans offered or a Convenience Points Plan Agreement (a points-only plan, in increments of $25). Optional Dining Plan and Convenience Points Plan Agreements are available during the summer at the Terrier Card Office; payment is required at the time of purchase.
