Acting and Performance I

Introductory level of theatrical performance exercises, improvisations, monologues and short scenes to teach fundamental methods of acting. 4 cr.
Acting: Comedy
CFA DR 128
Prereq: Introductory acting course or consent of instructor. An advanced acting course with an emphasis on the study and performance of contemporary comedy, utilizing daily exercises, improvisations, scripted scene work, and stand-up monologues. 4 cr.
Photography
CFA DR 169
A general survey of the art and practices of photography with special attention paid to theatrical photography. Focus is especially strong on aspects of history of artists and images, history of photographic technology and processes, and camera basics. No previous experience required. The student work for class is displayed and critiqued digitally, with strong emphasis on digital practice and technology. A digital SLR camera with manual exposure capacity is strongly advised. Topics in Contemporary Drama: Boston’s Best Playwrights
CFA DR 508
A dramatic literature course that marries text analysis of contemporary and new works with conversations with living playwrights. Classes based in rigorous discussion, rather than lecture, and students from disciplines across the university are welcome. 4 cr.
Topics in Contemporary Drama: Pulitzer Prize Plays
CFA DR 508
A dramatic literature course that explores currents in contemporary American life and drama by examining recent Pulitzer Prize-winning plays, beginning with 1993’s Angels in America. Classes based in rigorous discussion, rather than lecture, and students from disciplines across the university are welcome. 4 cr.
