What are the requirements to take Summer
Term courses?
Students do not need to apply to take summer courses at Boston
University. For more information, visit our registration page.
-
Where can I find the courses
that are being offered in Summer Term?
Our course offerings and descriptions can be found in the Courses
section of our website.
Summer 2009 courses will be available December 15.
-
How can I register for classes?
Students can register
for classes using either our online registration system or by
completing a registration form. Paper forms should be mailed,
walked or faxed to the Summer
Term office.
-
How do I add or drop a course?
Students registered in standard Summer Term courses may adjust
their schedule using WebReg on the Student Link until the add/drop
deadline for that summer session. You may also adjust your schedule
by completing a
Summer Term Class Adjustment Form and mailing, faxing or
walking the form to the Summer
Term office.
-
What are the dates for Summer
Term? What are the deadlines that I need to know about?
The standard Summer Term dates, including add/drop and payment
deadlines, are available on the Summer
Term calendar. However, many classes in the summer follow
a unique calendar based on individual scheduling. Courses with
special schedules are noted with their course
descriptions.
-
How do I withdraw from a course?
Students can drop courses on the Student
Link or by completing a Summer
Term Class Adjustment Form until the drop deadlines noted
on the Summer Term calendar. After the drop deadline, there
is no credit for tuition or fees. Students can withdraw from
courses with a 'W' grade until the deadlines noted in the Calendar.
Please note that lack of attendance will not drop or withdraw
you from a course. Students who do not officially drop a course
are held responsible for full tuition and fees.
-
When is the due date for tuition
and fees?
Payments are due by the first day of each summer session.
-
What are the payment options
offered by Boston University during Summer Term?
All Summer Term students can pay by check or money
order in U.S. dollars made out to 'Boston University'. Visiting
students or current part-time students can also pay by credit
card. Boston University also accepts Deferred Payment Plans,
Notification of Approved Loans or Outside Scholarships, and
Agency or Third-Party Scholarships.
-
Is there financial aid available
during the Summer Term?
Financial aid for summer enrollment is limited to certain federal
student loans, certain federal and private credit-based loans,
and Federal Work Study. Students must meet eligibility requirements
to qualify. There are no summer grants or scholarships available
from Boston University. See www.bu.edu/finaid
for further information.
-
Where will my bill be sent?
Your bill will be sent to your home address as indicated on
your registration form. Note, however, that you must pay your
charges by the dates indicated in the Summer
Term calendar, even if you have not yet received a bill
in the mail.
-
What is the fee to audit a
class during the Summer Term?
Auditors are charged full tuition costs to audit a course. Note
that it is not always possible to audit a course. The College
of Arts and Sciences (CAS), for example, does not permit students
to audit courses in their program. The Summer
Term Office can advise you if an audit is allowed for a
course you are interested in taking.
-
Is parking available on campus?
Bringing a car to campus is not recommended. However, if you
do drive to campus, you can either park on the street and pay
the meter (if you find an open spot), or you can purchase a
parking permit at Parking
Services.
-
Who can I contact at Boston
University if I have more questions?
Please contact the Summer
Term Office if you have any questions.
