You can find all of the great Weeks of Welcome events on our calendar, but here are some you definitely won’t want to miss. All events are free and open to BU students, unless otherwise noted.


OVRDRV 5.0: Dance Showcase
Saturday 2/7, 7-9pm, Tsai Center
Unofficial Project and Bulletproof Funk will be hosting a variety of dance battles and showcases! There will be an earlier session in SAO gym (1 University Road) at 1 pm. There will be judges (and cash prizes!) at the sessions. Check out the event page for more info.

Speak For Yourself Presents: Buddy Wakefield
Saturday 2/7, 7-10pm, COM101
Speak For Yourself, BU’s own spoken word poetry group, will be hosting famed poet Buddy Wakefield! Admission is $5 for BU students and $7 for non-BU students. Reserve your tickets here.


Ice Cream Social

What better way to celebrate the start of our spring semester than with some free ice cream and trivia?! Bring your sweet tooth and some friends to enjoy a night of your favorite ice cream flavors and Stump Trivia at BU’s late night venue!

AFC Championship Game: Patriots vs. Colts

Join us for all the action as the New England Patriots take on the Indianapolis Colts at 6 pm in BU Central this Sunday. We’ve got wings and snacks galore!

Rhett Talks: The Problem of Poverty
Monday 1/19, 7-9 pm, GSU Metcalf Hall
Rhett Talks is back with a special Martin Luther King, Jr. Day edition that will kick off a semester-long celebration of Dr. King’s legacy by the Howard Thurman Center. Speakers include Dr. Diana Swancutt (STH), Dr. Keith Magee (STH), and Dr. Deborah Belle (CAS). Each speaker will focus on “The Problem of Poverty,” which was a major theme of Dr. King’s Nobel Peace Prize address in 1964. BU Men’s Basketball vs. American University
Wednesday 1/21, 7 pm, Agganis Arena
Get your face paint ready and show us your best scarlet and white school spirit! Cheer on our Men Terrier Basketball players as they take on American at Agganis Arena!

121 Days to Graduation
Thursday 1/22, 9 pm-1 am, GSU Metcalf Ballroom
We’re throwing the biggest party of the year and it’s exclusively for BU Seniors. Make sure you and all of your friends are at the 121 Days to Graduation Party as we officially start counting down to the end! There will be a cash bar, free snacks, and dancing. Also, don’t forget to dress your best as to get your photo taken with Dean Elmore on the Red Carpet! Feel free to dress as formal as you like – self coat check will be available. RSVP at

Back Bay Ball
Friday 1/23, 9 pm-1 am, 808 Gallery
BU’s favorite annual event is back and better then ever! Pull out your dancing shoes and put on your fanciest outfit for this year’s Back Bay Ball! Join us at our very own 808 Gallery spruced up like you have never seen before on Friday, January 23 with free food, dessert, live music, photo booths, and cash bar for those 21+! The Comedy Show
Saturday 1/24, Doors 9:30 pm, GSU Metcalf Ballroom
What better way to celebrate your return to classes and Winter Weeks of Welcome than with some hilarious and FREE standup comedy? Join us on Saturday, January 24th for a night of laughs for the winter comedy show in Metcalf Ballroom! Featured comedians from the Daily Show include John Hodgman, Jordan Klepper, and Travon Free. Doors open at 9:30pm and the show starts at 10:00pm.  The show is free to BU students, but remember to RSVP and bring your BUID. See you there!

Agganis Free Skate

Friday 1/30, 10 pm and 11 pm, Agganis Arena
Strap on your ice skates and join us on the ice after the Men’s Hockey game! We will have two sessions of free skate in Agganis after the game: 1st session (10PM-10:35PM) is for students who attended the game and the second session (11PM-11:35PM) is for all other BU students! You can bring your own skates or rent some for FREE at the rink! Be sure to free RSVP at
