BTI and BLC Cards
How can I get a BTI card?
BTI (Boston Theological Institute) cards allow students in the School of Theology and doctoral students in the Division of Religious and Theological Studies to visit other theology libraries in the BTI and check out books. A list of BTI libraries can be found here: http://www.bostontheological.org/libraries.html.
After you have your BU ID, ask a librarian at the Theology Library Circulation Desk to make you a BTI card. Please present both your BU ID and your BTI card at the circulation desk of any BTI library in order to make a patron account there. You must have your BTI card and BU ID before you go to a BTI library to borrow materials. If you do not have them, you will be sent back to the STH library to get your cards before you can borrow materials elsewhere. There will be NO exceptions. BTI cards will be created Monday-Friday between the hours of 9:00am and 5:00pm. Registration at the BTI libraries will occur during the same hours.
Please note that books checked out at BTI libraries are governed by the lending libraries’ policies and patrons are responsible directly to the BTI library for any overdue fines.
BTI cards expire at the end of each semester so please stop by at the beginning of each semester to pick up a new card.
BTI Returns by Courier
BTI books must be checked out in person at the circulation desk of the BTI library. BTI books can, however, be returned to the Boston University Theology Library, regardless of their BTI library of origination. You must fill out a Transit Slip for each book returned to the Theology Library’s circulation desk; BTI books cannot be returned via bookdrop.
The BTI Courier visits our library once a week. Any books that reach their originating library after their due date will be checked in with the return date signed on the Transit Slip. (Overdue notices may still be sent out between a BTI book’s return to our library and the date when it finally reaches the originating library, but any fines should be waived when the book arrives.)
How can I get a BLC card?
BLC cards are issued from Mugar Memorial Library (Boston University’s Main Library). A list of BLC members can be found here: http://www.blc.org/members/current-members. More information and an online application can be found here.
