Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Theology Library will be closed to the public beginning 4pm on Friday, December 18th through January 18th. The library will re-open on Tuesday, January 19th.
If you have an item due back to the Theology Library during that time, it should automatically renew with no additional action needed on your part.
The following services will continue as normal:
Scan-on-demand. The library’s service of scanning materials in our collection on-demand will continue as normal to all Boston University students, faculty, and staff. STH students should follow the procedure highlighted on our COVID-19 response page; all other BU affiliates should email email@example.com with their request.
Mailing of materials. We will continue mailing STH Library materials to all School of Theology students, faculty, and staff. (Note: we are the only on-campus library providing this service.) Further information on placing these requests can be found on our COVID-19 response page.
Delivery to STH Faculty Mailboxes: We will deliver requested library items to faculty mailboxes in the basement of the School of Theology building. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with your requests.
Interlibrary Loan Requests for Articles or Single Book Chapters. Library staff will continue to place interlibrary loan requests for articles and single book chapters for all STH students, faculty, and staff.
The following services will be suspended:
Contactless Pickup. Beginning Thursday, December 18th, the library will turn off the ability to place contactless pickup requests. All requests not picked up by Friday, December 19th will be re-shelved. The library will resume processing contactless pickup requests the week of January 11, in anticipation of our January 19th re-opening date.
Interlibrary Loan Requests for Physical Books: Library staff will not accept requests for physical materials through January 11. Note: this does not apply to School of Theology doctoral candidates or faculty (see below).
STH Faculty and Doctoral Candidates
The School of Theology Library will allow faculty and STH doctoral candidates to visit the library by appointment during the following days:
December 21-23, 2020
January 4-8, 2021
January 11-15, 2021
Visiting STH Faculty and doctoral candidates will have to follow all safety guidelines as outlined in Back2BU, including wearing a face covering and showing a green “cleared” COVID-19 pass, signifying completing a daily symptom attestation and compliance with BU’s COVID-19 testing protocols.
Furthermore, we will pull circulating items from our stacks for contactless pickup. To schedule an appointment to visit, or request items to be pulled for contactless pickup, email library staff at email@example.com.
The library will allow STH faculty and doctoral candidates to place ILL requests for physical materials during this time; we will deliver ILL requests for faculty to their mailboxes in the basement of the building; doctoral candidates will need to schedule an appointment to visit the library to pick up their ILL requests.
