1999 - The Annual Lowell Lecture
On March 23 Boston University School of Theology and the Lowell
Institute present the 1999 Lowell Lecture, "The Virtues
and Joys of the Comparative Mirror," by Dr. Rita M.
Gross. Dr.
Sharon Peebles Burch of Boston University School of Theology
will be responding.
Dr. Gross, a student of comparative religion, is well known
for her work on women's studies in religion and feminist theology.
She also is a Buddhist theologian and has participated in
many Buddhist-Christian dialogues. In the Lowell Lecture,
she will discuss why comparative knowledge of religion is
necessary in contemporary theological education as well as
suggest how knowledge about world religions can be most effectively
integrated into theological education.
The 1999 Lowell Lecture will be held on Tuesday, March 23,
at 7:30pm in the 12th Floor Law Lounge of the Boston University
School of Law (directly behind the School of Theology).
A reception will immediately follow the lecture.
