March 23, 1999 - The Annual Lowell Lecture

On March 23 Boston University School of Theology and the Lowell Institute present the 1999 Lowell Lecture, "The Virtues and Joys of the Comparative Mirror," by Dr. Rita M. Gross.  Dr. Sharon Peebles Burch of Boston University School of Theology will be responding.

Dr. Gross, a student of comparative religion, is well known for her work on women's studies in religion and feminist theology.  She also is a Buddhist theologian and has participated in many Buddhist-Christian dialogues.  In the Lowell Lecture, she will discuss why comparative knowledge of religion is necessary in contemporary theological education as well as suggest how knowledge about world religions can be most effectively integrated into theological education.

The 1999 Lowell Lecture will be held on Tuesday, March 23, at 7:30pm in the 12th Floor Law Lounge of the Boston University School of Law (directly behind the School of Theology).  A reception will immediately follow the lecture.

Sponsored by the Lowell Institute and Boston University School of Theology.  For more information please call the School of Theology Alumni/ae Office, 617/353-8972 or send email to MT Davila.
