School of Theology Hurricane Relief Efforts
School of Theology Alumnae/i,
We are saddened and concerned for our brothers and sisters
in the Gulf Coast region. The profound loss in this area
challenges our souls. The perseverance needed over the coming
years to rebuild is daunting.
As graduates of the School of Theology, you know that God
has called you to action. The profundity of tragedy reaches
to the heart of human nature. Yet the eternal hope we have
spurs us to action. We are called upon to make a difference
in this world. I trust you will act accordingly.
Here at the School of Theology, we are busily working on
a number of relief efforts driven by both students and faculty.
We held an offering in Marsh Chapel last week for hurricane
victims, our Community Life Office is preparing 100 hurricane
kits with essential toiletries, and the Young Adult Seminarian
Network Club hosted a benefit ball at Theology house for
the relief efforts. Faculty and staff are working collectively
here at STH as well as in their own respective churches and
communities to provide relief for victims.
So, this letter is nothing more than a reminder to all of
us that our time on earth is shorter than we might like it
to be and our burdens are often times great; and it is in
these times of suffering that the hand you lend to someone
may make all the difference in the world.
Blessings.
