| First award of the Paul and Auburn Carr Scholarship Fund
in Science and Religion
Boston University School of Theology was
pleased to recognize the presence of Dr. Paul H. Carr at
our 2005 Annual Commencement. Dr. Carr attended the ceremony
to witness the first award of the Paul and Auburn Carr Scholarship
Fund in Science and Religion. Dr. Carr established the scholarship
in memory of his father, the Rev. Auburn J. Carr, who was
a 1932 graduate of the School of Theology and a Methodist
minister of several New England churches.
The first recipient of the Carr Scholarship is Gregory A.
Maslowe. Greg holds a bachelor’s degree from Boston
University and a master’s degree in philosophical theology
from Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary. Currently he
is writing a dissertation in ecological ethics within Boston
University’s Science, Philosophy, and Religion PhD
program. His research focus is on the ecological, ethical,
and economic challenges associated with the extremely controversial
agricultural use of genetically modified organisms.
Boston University School of Theology extends its gratitude
to Dr. Carr for his generous donation, and for his presence
at this year’s graduation ceremony.
