- Nickerson Field
Rain or shine Duration: Approximately two hours We hope you’ll join us for this energizing celebration as some 20,000 guests come together to honor this year’s graduates and celebrate their future endeavors to pave the way, make their mark, and improve our world. If you can’t make an appearance at Nickerson, you can still catch the ceremony via webcast. Check back here May 19 for details on how to watch. By tradition, we keep the names of our speaker and honorees secret until after the Senior Breakfast on May 3—check back here for details. TICKETS & GUEST SEATING There are no tickets for the All-University Commencement ceremony, nor do we limit how many guests a graduate may have present. Individual school and college ceremonies and other Commencement-related events may require registration or ticket purchase. Seats for the ceremony are first-come, first-served, and the stands at Nickerson fill quickly. We advise arriving at the field no later than noon. While general seating is not reserved, we provide designated areas for guests with disabilities. GETTING HERE We recommend using public transit where possible, but if you must drive, please view our resources for directions and parking during Commencement. To make finding your way easier, you can get acquainted with the entrances to Nickerson beforehand. For the best Commencement experience, meet up with family and friends after the ceremony at a pre-designated location. The best meeting places will be away from Nickerson Field and Agganis Arena (where large crowds tend to form). For the safety of all, guests aren’t allowed to congregate where graduates line up outside the stadium on Harry Agganis Way. GRADUATE PROCESSION All degree candidates will line up on Harry Agganis Way prior to the procession onto Nickerson Field. Graduates must line up by 12:15 p.m. University Marshals will be on hand to help you find your place. See the line-up details and degree candidate seating. WHAT TO BRING (AND LEAVE BEHIND) Previous ceremonies have seen weather from blustery 50-degree days to rainstorms to cloudless scorchers in the 90s. We recommend following the forecast so you can come prepared—be it umbrella, down vest, or straw hat. Please save items such as champagne, balloons, and beach balls for your post-Commencement festivities. To keep the ceremony rolling—and everyone attending comfortable and safe—we don’t allow these items at Nickerson Field. You can help us make Commencement green by recycling and composting waste items such as water bottles and programs. YOUR ATTENTION, PLEASE Thanks for helping us make this an enjoyable event by remembering to turn off your phones and other electronic devices for the duration of the ceremony.
