Acts of Forgiveness

The Rev. Ted Karpf will read from his latest book, Acts of Forgiveness: Faith Journey of a Gay Priest. The Reverend Canon Ted Karpf is former assistant dean/director of development at Boston University School of Theology and adjunct professor of religion, public health and international development teaching the only joint-course offering in the Schools of Medicine, Public Health, Social Work and Theology. Ted is an Episcopal priest for nearly 50 years, and has served as a parish priest, Deputy to the Bishop and Canon for Global Health in the Diocese of Washington, DC. He was Provincial Canon for HIV/AIDS ministries in the Church of Southern Afri-ca, and also a Program Specialist in the US Public Health Service, Partnerships Officer of the World Health Organization, faculty member of several universities, and Executive Director of a national interfaith nonprofit organization. Ted was chief editor of Restoring Hope: Decent Care in the Midst of HIV/AIDS (Palgrave Mac-millan 2008). Canon Karpf has been an international and domestic pioneer in fostering faith-based, community and public health responses in collaboration with government and community entities for 40 years. He holds degrees from Texas Wesleyan College and Boston University, both of which he is Distinguished Alumnus. He has done post graduate studies at Harvard, Southern Methodist University and the University of North Texas. He is living in Santa Fe where he writes and lectures, while practicing contemplative prayer and community activism around end of life issues.
