STH Day of Community Service
- 9:30 am on Friday, August 29, 2014
- 4:00 pm on Friday, August 29, 2014
- Basement of Marsh Chapel
The School of Theology's returning students, alumni/ae, faculty, and staff are all encouraged to join the Fall 2014 incoming students for a Day of Community Service on Friday, August 29th, from 9:30am until 4pm. We will begin the day by gathering for a hearty breakfast in the basement of Marsh Chapel (735 Commonwealth Avenue) from 9:30 until 10:30am, followed by Community Worship in Marsh Chapel from 10:45am – 11:30am. The worship service will feature a commissioning for the day's service opportunities. By 11:45am we will be ready to leave in groups for several area churches, non-profits, and community organizations in need of our help. We will garden, clean, organize, or paint the afternoon away as a service to the community, and will have a chance to reconnect with one another after the long summer break in the process of volunteering. The service projects will end no later than 4pm so everyone can get on their way. Spouses and children who are able to work alongside adults are welcome to join us for the day. This will be a great way to welcome incoming students, especially if many alumni, current students, and faculty and staff take part. If you plan to attend, please RSVP to the School of Theology Admissions Office (firstname.lastname@example.org) so we will have a headcount for the day's events. We hope to see you on Friday, August 29th!
