Feminist Practical Theology Event- "Tilling Sacred Ground: Exploration in a Womanist Psychology of Religion" with Dr. Phillis Sheppard Dr. Sheppard is Associate Professor of Pastoral Psychology and Theology at BU. She will discuss the research she is engaged in for her book, Tilling Sacred Ground: Explorations in a Womanist Cultural Psychology of Religion. This work draws on womanist cultural analysis, psychoanalytic theory, and contemporary black women’s engagement with religion. During this evening presentation, she will introduce us to the project, provide audio, artistic, and clinical case examples of her work and method. The evening is designed to facilitate conversation and consultation on the project. Since 2009, the Center for Practical Theology has sponsored events to promote conversation about feminist/womanist practical theology and its engagement with critical questions facing theologians, religious scholars, and religious communities.
