Giving
to the School of Theology
It's now easier than ever to make a gift to the School of
Theology. Visit the Boston University Alumni Web for more
details and a secure
online giving form.
School of Theology Fund
Alumni/ae contributions to the School of Theology Fund are
a vital part of realizing the goals of the School to train
students for ministry in the contemporary world within an
excellent academic setting. Most recently, this fund has been
utilized to complete renovations to the Muelder Chapel. The
fund has also been used to prepare a student study room complete
with computers, printers, and internet access. This room is
used daily for student gatherings, class section meetings,
and individual studying and writing. Alumni/ae gifts also
impact student life through the acquisition of new books for
the library,
subscriptions to the most current publications in theological
fields, the Writing
Works program, and faculty development. Day to day programming
for the School of Theology would not be possible without the
generosity of our alumni/ae.
Annual Fund Leadership Giving Societies
The School of Theology and Boston University are introducing
Annual Fund Leadership Giving Societies to honor the distinguished
group of contributors who, year after year, help the University
to prepare young people for ministry. Membership in the Giving
Societies recognizes donations made without restriction to
the STH Fund within a single fiscal year. Each Society offers
a variety of benefits, including recognition in Focus
and exclusive invitations to events. As a member of a Society,
you will be part of a vital support system for the School
of Theology’s pursuit of excellence. Through your vision
and generosity, you will be an inspiration to others. We hope
you will consider joining us.

Matching Gifts
Matching gifts are a corporation's way of multiplying the
benefits of their employees' charitable gifts. If you or your
spouse work for a company that offers a matching gift program,
your gift to Boston University could be doubled or even tripled.

Harrell F. Beck Chair in Hebrew Scripture
Former School of Theology Professor Harrell F. Beck (STH'45,
GRS'54) was a profound influence on many, who remain faithful
to his teaching, preaching, and counsel. We are pleased to
announce our progress toward establishing a chair in honor
of Dr. Beck. Our goal is to create a fully-funded Harrell
F. Beck Chair in Hebrew Scripture, a fitting testimony to
his life and ongoing influence.
James R. Houghton Chair in Church
Music
A major force in church music during his years at Boston University
School of Theology, former professor James R. Houghton's legacy
lives on in the Seminary Singers, whom he founded and led
for several decades. Today, the Seminary Singers, known for
both the quality of their music and the inclusiveness of their
membership, continue to lead worship at the School of Theology's
weekly chapel services.
We need your help. We hope that through planned and current
gifts we will be able to complete these chairs soon. If you
have any ideas, are willing to help us tell alumni/ae around
the country about this effort and solicit gifts, or would
like information on ways to give, we would be pleased to hear
from you. All help in any form is greatly appreciated.
All checks should be made payable to "Boston University."
Please remember to designate the particular fund towards which
your gift will go. Please send your gifts to:
