Lowell Lecture 2010 Recap

We were honored to have Dr. Peter Phan give the 2010 Annual Lowell Lecture, “MISSION OF THE TRIUNE GOD, MISSION OF THE CHURCH, MISSION OF THE WORLD: A ROMAN CATHOLIC PERSPECTIVE” on November 3, 2010 in the Photonics Center. Dr. Phan has published such books as Christianity with an Asian Face: Asian American Theology in the Making and Being Religious Interreligiously: Asian Perspectives on Interreligious Dialogue in Postmodernity.

Dr. Phan’s lecture highlighted Catholic theology of mission over the past 50 years, examined the present influence of the church of the global south and looked toward a future where the economic conditions of the southern hemisphere will have to be addressed. He stated that the mission of the church needs to be to the world and carried out by addressing three areas: “liberation, inculturation, and interreligious dialogue.”
