School of Theology Hooding Ceremony

Please select two members of the School of Theology faculty to present you with your hood at the STH convocation. These may be faculty with whom you have studied in your area of concentration or to whom you feel a particular affinity. It is your responsibility to contact the chosen faculty and invite them to serve in this capacity. Not all faculty are available the day of graduation. Please note that only STH deans and faculty listed on the webpage at may serve as hooders. No one else (alums, friends, parents, pastors, administrative staff at the school, etc.) may serve as a hooder, as the significance of this event is that those placing the hood are acting on behalf of the faculty in bestowing your degree. You should select two and only two hooders.

Guests are encouraged to arrive at Marsh Chapel well in advance of the Hooding Service, which will begin promptly at 2:00 p.m. The ceremony will conclude around 3:30 p.m. Tickets are not necessary for this event. Each graduate is allowed 8 guests.

All graduates will assemble in the first floor corridor of the School of Theology (in front of Room 108) at 1:15 p.m.  Please be punctual. You will be arranged in alphabetical order by degree program for the procession to Marsh Chapel.
