MTS Contextual Education Project

Master of Theological Studies students are required to fulfill one semester (4 credits) of contextual education, typically during the second year of this two-year program.  This is a new requirement as of academic year 2010-11. Some students may choose to complete this requirement by taking TF 703 and TF 704 ( Practices of Faith).

Others may elect to follow a project proposal process. Students design MTS projects in consultation with advisors and the Office of Contextual Education. The timeline for MTS projects is as follows:

March 31, 2014 Student proposals due to Office of Contextual Education (Suite 107)
April 1, 2014 Contextual Education and Life Long Learning (CELLL) Committee begins review process.
April CELLL Committee convenes to discuss proposals. Both students and their advisors are notified regarding approvals or any necessary modifications. Revision due date deadlines will be determined on individual bases.
May 31, 2014 Students with approved proposals for the fall semester register for TF801 in the Spring or the Fall.
Fall 2014 Students with approved proposals for the spring semester register for TF801.

A copy of remarks prepared by CELLL Committee Chair, Garth Green, for an introductory plenary session on this curricular element is available here.
