Certificate Programs
A NEW OPPORTUNITY FOR UNITED METHODIST STUDENTS INTERESTED IN:
- EVANGELISM (Evangelism Plan of Study)
- SACRED MUSIC (Music Ministry Plan of Study)
- SPIRITUAL FORMATION (Spiritual Formation Plan of Study)
The School of Theology now provides a way for United Methodist students to complete the academic work for certification in one of the three areas listed above. The purpose is to help students deepen their knowledge and expertise in the area and, then, to document their specialized preparation for ministry.
United Methodist Students are eligible to be certified through annual conference boards of ordained ministry after completing the academic courses for certification and fulfilling the additional church and personal requirements. Our procedure for documenting the students’ specialized academic work is to give them a letter of completion. Sam Johnson, Co-Director of Contextual Education, will help students who wish to know more about this process (sjohnson@bu.edu).
