Lorenzo Barber (1852)

Lorenzo Barber was born in 1821. He was a member of the Troy Conference, and joined the Union army as a chaplain during the Civil War. He volunteered to join the sharpshooters, and was known as the “fighting Methodist parson” of the USV sharpshooters. After the war, Barber’s renown for his use of the “telescopic rifle” drew crowds for his services. He died in 1882.
