Departmental Computer Resources

In the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, each office is equipped with a workstation, either Windows or Linux (the BU Linux distribution) and there are Linux and Solaris systems available for research and general purpose usage.

For research purposes, many of the major mathematical software packages are available including Maple, Mathematica, and MATLAB.

There are also other computing facilities on campus including:

• Mugar Library Computer Lab
• Scientific Computing and Visualization

Researchers interested in  large scale computing including parallel computing can use University computing resources such as:

• Blue Gene
• pSeries
• Katana Cluster
• Linux Cluster

The campus also has extensive wireless coverage.
