Outlook Folders

Using folders help you organize your mail and increases access and sorting speed in your Mailbox and your Archive.

Using Folders to sort your email
In the Mail Folders window on the left-hand side of Outlook, right-click on your "Mailbox – Lastname, Firstname MI." Select "New Folder…"

If you want the folder in the top level of the mailbox, click okay, otherwise, click the + to find the folder in which you’d like to create the new folder

In the "Name:" box, put your folder name, and make sure the desitnation fo the new folder is highlighted in the "Select where to place the folder:" area

Your folder now appears in the "Mail Folders" window

To move a message to a folder you can use one of two methods:

1. Drag and Drop:

  • Left click and hold on the message
  • drag it over to the folder until the folder the folder is highlighted
  • release the button and the message will move

2.Right-click dialogue:

  • right-click on the message
  • choose "Move to Folder…"
  • continue below following the illustration…

  • choose the folder name
  • click okay
