Whitney Gecker is a doctoral candidate currently pursuing her PhD in Sociology and Social Work. Whitney’s dissertation utilizes ethnographic methods to assess privilege and diversity among youth in Newton, specifically examining the impact and continued presence of the METCO program. Whitney works as a Research Assistant studying the Boston Mayor’s Youth Council, with a particular focus on their Youth Lead the Change participatory budgeting project. She is also serving as a Teaching Assistant for the Evaluation Research course, where she brings extensive practical knowledge based on a history of evaluation research focused on youth organizations. Whitney received her MA in Applied Sociology at UMass Boston.
