Connect to SSW File Server

WINDOWS

Follow these steps to connect to the SSW File Server from home, using a Windows XP or newer computer.

Install and Configure BU VPN on your home computer
  • Download: Go to the VPN page to download the appropriate VPN Client for your computer (SSWIT recommends the Pre-configured Windows VPN client 5.x page).
  • Install: Follow the instructions on the page to install the VPN and restart your computer.
  • Connect
    • Open the VPN, click on the “BU vpn-offcampus” connection
    • Click the “Connect” button
    • Enter your BU login and Password
Connect to your the server
  • On your home computer, click Start.
  • Click Run.
  • Type or paste "\\ssw-b\" (omit the quotation marks) or the entire folder path if you know it.
  • Click OK
  • **IMPORTANT: Use "AD\login" (omit the quotation marks) where login is your BU login and your regular kerberos password (i.e. if your bu email is awesome@bu.edu, your would use AD\awesome as the login name for this part).
Security
  • Do NOT save your password
