Ideas are great arrows, but there has to be a bow.
And politics is the bow of idealism. Bill Moyers
Vote in the primary this TUESDAY February 5th
______________________________________________________________________
The BUSSW PRIMARY POLL RESULTS
49 responses
82% identified as Democrats (40)
2% as Republicans (1)
16% as Independent (8)
Asked who they’d vote for in the Democratic primary:
57% Obama (28)
29% Clinton (14)
10% Edwards (5)
4% Kucinich (2)
Unfortunately the question about the Republican primary was not well formulated so, the results could not be interpreted (although McCain was the front runner)

MEN take the White Ribbon Pledge
"From this day forward, I promise never to commit, condone or remain silent about violence against women, sexual assault and domestic violence"
NOMAS (National Organization for Men Against Sexism) has launched an international effort to engage more men and boys to help end violence against women, sexual and domestic. The campaign has four main goals:
· Change social norms and create a social and political climate that does not tolerate violence against women;
· Recognize and replicate the solid and powerful examples of men’s engagement already taking place in Massachusetts;
· Focus on the critical role that men can and must play to help break men’s silence and end sexual and domestic violence;
· Raise support for local sexual assault and domestic violence organizations as well as the state coalition.
Men can sign/take the pledge:
1. If they are on the BU Medical campus at any point to my office at any time during the week to sign a pledge.
2. If they want to be more involved, they can contact the Jane Doe, Inc.'s Men's Initiative to become a White Ribbon Ambassador. Interested people can sign up at :
http://www.janedoe.org/involved/White%20Ribbon/involved_whiteribbonday_getinvolved.htm
3. They can come to the event at the Statehouse on Valentine's Day, at 9:00 a.m., and take the pledge at the statehouse along with Governor Deval Patrick and a host of other Massachusetts decision-makers.

SSW Q & A
Q. I have a question about the graduation on May 18th. I received the order form for the Commencement Cap and Gown, should I order one now?
A. GOWN LOAN
- - Approximately 1/2 of the class this year will be able to borrow a graduation robe from BUSSW while others will have to buy theirs.
- - The loan gown process is first-come-first-serve beginning Wed., April 16th at 8AM until ½ the supply is gone and then, on Thurs., April 17th at noon till all gowns are gone. Line up will be outside of SW Room 117A.
- - Borrowers need to provide a $50 deposit check made out to BUSSW
(that we will rip up when you return the robe).
- - Those who borrow a robe will still need to buy the cap, hood and tassel.
- - Those who do not have a loaner gown will have to purchase full regalia from Barnes & Noble.
- - If you chose to, you can donate your purchased robe, after the ceremony, for future BUSSW graduates.
