Boston Schweitzer Fellows Program
The Boston Schweitzer Fellows Program seeks to build leaders in service who are dedicated to working with the underserved in their Fellowship year and beyond. Fellows design and implement their own 200-hour community service projects that address local unmet health needs and participate in monthly Fellowship activities. We select a diverse group of up to 35 graduate students each year from multiple schools and health related disciplines, including medicine, social work, music, nursing, optometry, law, education, public policy, and religion among others. The Fellowship is open to students enrolled in a graduate-level degree program through March 2009. The due date for the 2008-2009 program year is February 1, 2008 and the application information is available online

MAKE SURE YOU notify BU (on the “Personal” tab at StudentLink) of your personal emergency contact information. All students must be compliant before you can choose courses for spring. Also required of all full time students and all international students are certain IMMUNIZATIONS. You should have already been notified of this by the University Health Services. If you need vaccines, they are available at clinics at the GSU (October 17-19 10am-6pm) and FITREC (October 15 11am-5:30pm). You can bill the costs of these to your student account.
REGISTRATION TIPS
- Clear up any compliance issues (see above Make Sure You….) and be up-to-date with your Student Account so you are not blocked
- Add the courses you want ahead of time to your “Planner” on the StudentLink under Academic tab
- Check for other possible elective courses at other grad schools at BU or at Consortium schools (BC, Tufts, Brandeis, Hebrew College). We usually have about 4-5 BUSSW students taking courses out of our school and we also get an equal number from Consortium schools students taking courses here.
- Check again the night before registration starts to make sure your schedule is still the way you expected (in case changes have been made to courses by the School).
- Set your alarm for 6:45 am on Wed October 24. Begin registration at 7 am.
- After 10/24 clear up any registration problems with Heidi Maitland 117B (maitland@bu.edu) or Francois Exilhomme 117A (sswoss@Bu.edu)
