Transportation Services
From September through May, the Boston University Shuttle Bus provides all students, staff, and faculty with free on-campus transportation throughout the day. Traveling along Commonwealth Avenue, the shuttle buses are equipped with wheelchair lifts as part of a fully integrated system. During the evening hours, the BU Escort Security Service, which offers both personal escort and accessible van transportation, is available to all members of the University community. In addition, the MBTA has redesigned several 'T' stations along the Commonwealth Avenue (B) Line in order to make them more accessible

Persons with disabilities can obtain reduced fare on all MBTA service with a Transportation Access Program (TAP) card. Certification application available by calling 617-222-5438 or TTY 222-5854 or at the Senior & Access Pass Program Office located at Back Bay Station. Open 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m., Monday–Friday. Medicare Card holders are automatically eligible. The TAP card costs $3. Subway service at most stations is 35¢ and regular local bus service is 25¢. Customers who have been issued a photo identification card by the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind (MCB) are automatically eligible for the new MBTA Blind Access Card. The Blind Access Card entitles the bearer to free travel on MBTA fixed-route services. MCB card holders may obtain the MBTA Blind Access Card at the Office for Transportation Access (OTA) at Back Bay Station or at the Downtown Crossing MBTA Sr./TAP ID Center.
The RIDE is a service for individuals who cannot ride the fixed routes of the MBTA buses and trains. You may request an application package by writing or calling:
