BU Today: Jorge Delva Chosen as New School of Social Work Dean

Dr. Jorge Delva, a nationally recognized expert on substance abuse and ethnic health disparities, will assume his post as BUSSW’s new Dean on January 1, 2018. He aims to grow and develop BUSSW so that it becomes the most competitive choice for prospective students seeking “a top-notch education in social work research and practice.” He is committed to preparing the next generation of social workers and social justice leaders to tackle today’s most pressing social challenges.

Dr. Delva has been the Kristine A. Siefert Collegiate Professor of Social Work and the director of the Communities Engagement Program of the Michigan Institute for Clinical & Health Research at the University of Michigan. He also has been a faculty associate in the American culture department’s Latina/o studies program. Recognized as a high-impact scholar by the fellows of the Society for Social Work and Research due to his research and publishing track record, BUSSW is excited to have him join our community of changemakers.
