SSW is transitioning to the new competencies set by the Council on Social Work Education which were approved in 2015. During this transition you may encounter some courses referencing 10 competencies while others reference the new 9 competencies. Once the transition is completed the Competency Map will be updated.
Please click here to access the updated 2016 social work competencies. The new competencies are similar to the previous competencies; they expand professional identity to include ethics and add engagement, assessment, intervention and evaluation. Critical thinking, contexts and human behavior and the social environment are applied to all the competencies, especially the last four. Additional information will be provided once the transition is completed.
