What is Public Health Social Work and what do public health social workers do?
Public health social work is evidence based social work practice that focuses on today's contemporary social health issues. Characteristics of public health social work are:
- It's about prevention, not just intervention after problems have occured;
- It uses multiple methods, including research, policy, advocacy, clinical and macro approaches;
- It works across population levels, from individuals to groups, communities and whole populations;
- It's strengths-based and emphasizes resilience and positive factors to promote heatlh and reduce risk.
