Beyond our classrooms, you’ll find a community like no other. Boston University is home to Nobel and Pulitzer Prize-winners, poets laureate, and the first biomedical engineer ever to receive a MacArthur Foundation “Genius Award. The nation’s fourth largest private university, BU is a leading global research institution—propelled forward by over $360 million in sponsored program awards in 2012/13. We’re also no stranger to the momentous tides of history. Come find out what moved Martin Luther King, Jr., to adopt BU as a place where he could hone his message of justice and equality. At the School of Social Work, our faculty are nationally and internationally recognized for their ongoing contributions to areas such as substance abuse, public health social work, gerontology, HIV/AIDS, trauma, and mental health.

Then, of course, there’s Boston itself. So much of our education and work is hands-on, out in the greater metropolitan area. The city dovetails perfectly with our mission of pursuing social and economic justice in the urban environment.

Charles River Campus

The School of Social Work is housed in a charming building overlooking tree-lined Bay State Road. We’re located near the popular “BU Beach” and historic Charles River, and a stone’s throw from Boston’s extensive public transportation system. We encourage you to come see us and sit in on a class. We’d love to meet you!
