The Role of Social Work in the Dying Process
Death and dying is an incredibly unique and vulnerable time in our clients’ lives. Evidence based practice suggests that patients and families cope better with the dying process when an interdisciplinary team, including social work is engaged. This workshop uses lecture and case presentations to recognize the physical, emotional, and spiritual signs of actively dying. Presenters will explore ways for the social worker to be effective and use the self as an aid in assisting patients and loved ones achieve a “good death.”
