Neuroscientists have shown that emotions are at the forefront of the learning process. As a result school social workers can have a critical role in maximizing educational outcomes for students. This full-day workshop uses a multi-media presentation along with experiential exercises and group discussion to help participants redefine their professional identity to include the role of educator. Participants will leave with an increased understanding of their role in the learning process and some practical tools and strategies they can use to deliver targeted, effective, and comprehensive counseling services to help maximize educational outcomes for students in grades K-8.
