Trauma Informed Substance Abuse for Latinas
Substance abuse and histories of trauma are often linked in the lives of clients. Culturally responsive substance abuse intervention necessitates trauma-infused approaches that recognize the contributing role of sexual and physical abuse to the problems of substance abuse in urban settings. This workshop presents a successful treatment program and includes strategies that can be applied in diverse settings with individuals and groups. The emphasis is on a strengths-based empowerment approach designed to meet the unique needs of communities of color, with a particular emphasis on Latino populations.
