Supervisors play an important role in the training of new social workers. Often times this role is in addition to many other responsibilities within the agency. This workshop offers an opportunity for supervisors to step outside of their agency responsibilities and reflect on their role as clinical supervisors. Topics for discussion include social work competencies, the role of supervision, challenges that arise in supervision and techniques to being a successful supervisor.
Workshop participants will be able to:
· Understand the role of supervision.
· Recognize challenges that come up in the supervisory relationship
· Use feedback, critical thinking and problem solving skills as they relate to supervision.
This program will be highly beneficial to mental health professionals, clinicians, health care workers, case managers, direct staff and supervisors, school social workers and psychologists. Workshop format includes lecture, discussion and case studies.
