Worth a Thousand Words: Using Scrapbooks to Help Children Tell Their Story in Therapy
In this workshop, participants will be presented with current research about the value of allowing clients to tell their stories through their own works of art. Specifically, this seminar focuses on how scrapbooks can be used to assist children and adolescents with documenting critical life moments and memories, and can thus be valuable in the therapeutic setting to assist younger clients with self-reflection. Participants will be presented with techniques that can be used to guide clients to construct healthy narratives by helping them to recognize their accomplishments, strengths, coping skills, and resilience.
