Group Work Practitioners Need Supervision Too! Practice and Skill Building in Advanced Supervision of Groups
Organizations are increasingly integrating group work modalities as part of the service delivery method. Both the cost efficiancy and the treatment efficacy of group work appeal to programs and agency staff. Clinicians and other group workers need effective supervision to implement positive and successful group work practice. Yet, all too often, supervisors and managers may not be sufficiently trained, or feel comfortable and competent, in providing quality supervision of group practice and the components unique to this practice method. This half-day workshop combines didactic presentation on group work and supervision theory and practice with experiential exercises and discussions. Integration of participants' experiences from the field will be utilized throughout the day.
