Overwhelmed Under the Ivy: Issues, Trends, and Challenges in College Mental Health
Whether in community colleges or private universities, students are challenged by mental health issues. As a consequence, college counseling services are experiencing increased demand for clinical services, responding to more acute situations, and making more referrals to social workers in the community. Using clinical, developmental, and organizational lenses, this workshop examines current college mental health issues and trends, identifies the legal and ethical challenges in college mental health, and highlights a range of effective treatment modalities available. Case vignettes illuminate the ecological complexity of working in this clinical field and with the college-age population.
