What We Do
SPS specializes in providing technical support for live events produced primarily by organized BU student groups and Dean of Students departments. From concerts and theatrical performances to fashion shows and public forums, SPS has a knowledgeable staff and robust inventory of industry-standard equipment to fulfill the needs of any event at any campus venue. Our support includes lighting, sound, and multimedia/video, giving your group access to complete production service committed to enhancing your event’s look, sound, and feel. Student groups benefit from our discounted pricing model, making high end production services attainable for most campus organizations.

-
- One camera system for live broadcasting in-house
- Live feed or IMAG (short for”image magnification”) is where we project a close-up of what’s happening onstage so those seated farther away can see.
- Note: We do not record events with the live feed camera, but can sometimes share the signal. Contact us with questions about this.
Lighting
Accent Lighting
- Lights set up around the room against the walls or pillars, to add atmosphere to the event
- Any color can be chosen by the group (usually one color, or two alternating)
- This lighting does not light any people or space in the room
Club Lighting
- Party-like lights, including small moving lights and flashing lights
- Moving lights have no color options, but flashing light colors can be chosen
Basic Stage Wash
- Basic stage lighting, used to light standard performance spaces
- White lighting only; no color options
Custom Stage Wash
- For bigger events if they want to choose multiple colors (usually two or three)
- For unique stage layouts that require extra fixtures (non-rectangle, dance floor, etc)
- For large events, SPS can rent additional equipment, such as moving lights, from 3rd party vendors
Production Equipment Rentals
For events that we are supporting, SPS will coordinate rentals for lighting and sound equipment and the cost will be included in your overall quote for the event. Rentals will not be made until the group confirms that they can cover the costs within their event budget.
