SPS specializes in providing technical support for live events produced primarily by BU student groups and Dean of Students departments. From concerts and theatrical performances to fashion shows and public forums, SPS has a knowledgeable staff and robust inventory of industry-standard equipment to fulfill the needs of any event at any campus venue.
Our production support covers lighting, sound, and multimedia, giving your group access to a full professional production service committed to enhancing your event’s look, sound, and feel.

Our talented design staff coupled with our vast inventory of industry-standard theatrical lighting equipment will give your event a polished shine. Lighting is critical to establish mood, conceal and reveal, heighten your event’s energy, and complete the ambience of your program.
When planning your event, remember to schedule a design consultation with one of our Technical Directors or a design-certified staff member at least two weeks in advance. At this collaborative meeting, you and the designer will match your creative vision with the technology that can make it happen. A typical consultation will discuss colors, lighting types, special cues, and other lighting specifications.
Production sound is vital for the success of live events. At SPS, we are dedicated to bringing your group the highest quality sound with our professional equipment. Our staff is trained to match your events audio needs with the acoustical qualities of the event location leading to the best possible sound for your program.
When planning your event, remember to schedule a design consultation with one of our Technical Directors or a design-certified staff member at least two weeks in advance. At this collaborative meeting, you and the designer will develop the optimal sound scheme for the space and budget of your event. A typical consultation will discuss microphones, band/instrument needs, DJ requirements, and other sound specifications. The decisions made at the consultation aim to result in smooth audio at your event.
SPS offers a wide array of multimedia options to present your event’s media with style. We offer multimedia services ranging from high-definition rear-screen projection to live feed video. We also offer smaller format projections for conferences and other miscellaneous events.
(Please note that SPS cannot make archival video recordings of events. You should either contact BU Productions at 617-353-3217 or an outside vendor to handle this for your event.)
When booking our services, let us know what type of content you would like to share and where, and we will show you what you can do with it. Also, when you submit videos, presentations, audio and photos, be sure to follow the media submission guidelines to ensure that your media is compatible with our equipment so that everything runs flawlessly at your event.
Please note that we do not provide adapters for Mac laptops such as display-port or mini-DVI adapters. Please make sure your computer has a VGA port or that you have the proper VGA adapter for your event.
