Parking, Directions & Transportation

Traffic along Commonwealth Avenue during Commencement Weekend can become heavily congested, causing long delays. We recommend using public transportation to and from campus whenever possible.

Public Transit

MBTA
You can quickly and easily hop on a Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority (MBTA) bus or a train from campus to various places in the city and beyond. Check the MBTA site for maps and schedules, or use their trip planner.

BU Shuttle
We’ll provide free shuttle service between Kenmore Square and the Track & Tennis Center throughout the weekend for our guests. Check the shuttle route for stops near your destination.

Parking

For those who must drive to campus, most parking lots and garages will be open and available free of charge throughout the weekend.  Beginning in May, a Commencement parking list with suggested parking lots for the weekend convocations and events will be available.

On Sunday, May 17, the Babcock Street Garage (278 Babcock Street) will only be available to those who have a special Babcock Street Commencement Day Parking Pass.  General commencement parking will not be allowed in this lot on Sunday.  After 9:30am, Babcock Street will not be accessible to general traffic.

All lots throughout BU have accessible parking for those with disabilities. As of May 11, any guests requiring a designated accessible parking permit should call Parking & Transportation Services at 617-353-2160.  Get details about accessible parking in the Disability Services section.
